Section 1. Searching for Jesus in the Gospels (23 min)
“Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” (Mark 10:15). In this module, Fr. Riley explains how to approach the Gospel in a childlike manner. Through the lessons in this section, students will understand how the Holy Spirit governed the process of the Gospels' creation, resulting in four of the greatest works of all time - both fully human and fully divine.

Section 2. Praying with Jesus in the Gospels (22 min)
While we are created to pray, the fearsome three — the world, the flesh, and the devil — make realizing our true potential as prayerful beings difficult. The lessons in this module introduce students to praying alongside the Gospels through the MATA method: (Mercy, Asking, Thanksgiving, and Adoration), as well as utilizing the Rosary as a gateway into deeper prayer.Â

Meet Your Instructor

Father John Riley has been a priest for over 30 years, serving in the Arlington Diocese, in Denver, and beyond. He has taught and led hundreds of conferences, missions, and retreats for priests, religious sisters, and laity around the country and as far afield as Calcutta, India. His first love is helping people seek and find Jesus Christ by treasuring and pondering the Gospels in deep, quiet prayer. Fr. Riley currently serves as Spiritual Director for the Arlington Diocese's San Damiano Retreat Center in White Post, VA.Â
